Blue Hawaiian Helicopters Reopens Princeville Airport

Blue Hawaiian’s return to Princeville Airport brought a helicopter departure option to Kauai’s north shore. This article was first published on April 24, 2023; the planning information below was updated in October 2026.

A north-shore departure option

Our original reopening report described the Princeville passenger lounge and the experience of departing from the north shore in an Eco-Star helicopter. For visitors staying around Princeville or Hanalei, the departure location was a useful alternative to traveling to Lihue.

A convenient airport is one part of choosing a flight. Compare the tour’s current duration, aircraft, passenger requirements and total price as well as the drive from your accommodation. The closest departure point is not necessarily the best match for every group.

What Blue Hawaiian currently lists

As checked in October 2026, Blue Hawaiian lists its Discover Kauai tour as a 45-minute Eco-Star flight departing from Princeville. Its description features Kauai’s valleys, waterfalls, canyons, Na Pali Coast and Hanalei Bay. All sights are weather dependent.

The operator’s official contact page lists the Princeville heliport at 5-3541 Kuhio Highway in Kilauea. Use the address and arrival instructions in your actual booking confirmation; this historical reopening article is not a check-in document.

Princeville or Lihue?

Start with where you are staying and the type of flight you want. Our Hughes 500 doors-off flights, private Robinson R44 tours and airplane sightseeing options provide other experiences to compare from Lihue. Aircraft layouts, door configurations and available flight lengths differ.

Leave enough time for the drive, parking and the operator’s required check-in. Confirm the meeting point before setting out rather than assuming every Kauai tour uses the same airport or passenger terminal.

Before reserving

• Confirm the exact departure airport and current operating dates.
• Check the full fare, passenger weight limits and seating arrangements.
• Read the cancellation and weather policies for the selected flight.
• Use the live calendar and your confirmation for final details.
